Community Outreach

At Evangel Church, we believe it's important to do work in our own community. Through Hands of Hope, our food pantry and community events, we want to show the love of God and help people in need. Currently, we provide groceries for over 200 families every week. Our volunteers also help with the Northern Illinois Food Bank's annual food drive. We have recently remodeled the teachers' lounge in a local school and in May 2009, we hosted Hanover Park's first Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration.

Community Days are special events in which we give opportunities for regular attenders and members of Evangel Church to go into the community and do practical things that make difference. Community Days are held in the summer and fall. We Projects such as:
  • Trash collection along Lake Street, Bartels Road and Central Avenue.
  • Free haircuts and makeovers
  • Free health screenings which include: blood pressure check, eye screening and nutritional counseling.
  • Visits to area retirement homes
  • Neighborhood beautification projects
  • Blood drive

Check our event calendar for the next scheduled Community Day.

ReMix

ReMix is our community student outreach program designed to attract students who would not normally attend church on a Sunday morning. This night begins with a half hour of open gym and free food, followed by 45 minutes of team activities, and then we finish the night with a short message dealing with issues students are facing today and a short time of small group discussion about the topic.
