Weekly Prayer Focus

Prayer Focus - May 2010
  • Our President’s Holiness: Seeking to honor his wife, his children and those around him reflects greatly on our Lord. Therefore we pray for our president to remain pure and holy in all personal areas of life.
  • Our President’s Safety: Let’s be honest. In a world governed by hate and division, the President of the United States is not immune from violent activity, whether it stems from racist or terrorist motivations. We need to pray for President Obama’s safety.
  • Our Economy: What does God get out of a strong economy? A chance to bless His people, yes, but more so, a greater chance of being a blessing to other nations. A strong economy means more money to send long-term and short-term workers overseas who will, in turn, make God famous.
  • Our Foreign Policy: Many workers feel the unspoken words from those they are ministering to regarding America’s foreign policy. Some policies help, some hinder the progress of the Gospel. We need to pray that our nation’s agenda will not restrict the progress of the Gospel.
  • Our Cultural Influence: To the world, not only do the actions of the President of the United States reflect upon the character of God, but so do television shows, books, magazines, videos, music, news stories, etc. from the “Christian nation” of America. As a result television, radio, media, etc. portray Christ to much of the world. As one missionary from Indonesia said, “I felt like my ministry that day was totally wiped out when I sat down and turned on the television and found 90210." Regardless the media, it represents unfortunately what others think of a "Christian" nation.
  • Our Dependence Upon God: After the Israelites passed through the Red Sea, they quickly forgot God (Psalm 106:21). After the Israelites got into the Promised Land, they were so blessed by God that they again forgot Him. Both times they were judged. We need to pray and fast that our president and his cabinet will not forget God and will depend upon Him for bringing our nation to where it needs to be.
